It is important to realise that there is a difference between a hypnotherapist and a hypno-psychotherapist. A hypno-psychotherapist, as recognised by the UK Council for Psychotherapy Hypno-Psychotherapy Section, is a person who has undertaken a minimum of 4 years of training (1400 hours) in hypnosis as well as its applications within psychotherapy. Hypno-Psychotherapy is still brief therapy, but hypno-psychotherapist can employ both hypnotic and psychotherapeutic based interventions in order to assist clients reach their goals. I have been a registered Hypno-Psychotherapist since 1996, as well as being a trained hypnotherapist since 1989.
I am a UKCP, EAP, EAHP, and WCP, Registered Hypno-Psychotherapist, a Board Certified Hypnotherapist , and an UKCHO Registered Hypnotherapist. I am totally committed to the empowerment of the individual. I see clients in my comfortable Victorian Consulting Rooms in Chorlton cum Hardy, Greater Manchester. 3 Miles from the City Centre of Manchester. I work from a very strong ethical position with care of the client being my primary concern always.
I am actively involved with the evolution of the hypnosis profession as Principal of the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, Chair of the UKCP Hypno-Psychotherapy Section, Chair-Elect of the European Association for Hypno-Psychotherapy, and perhaps most important of all as a full-time clinician (since 1989).
I incorporate Clinical Hypnosis and Ericksonian Hypnotherapy with NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Counselling and Psychotherapy to assist my clients to achieve their goals.

The National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy Established in 1977, the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy run UKCP recognised Hypno-Psychotherapy courses in London, Liverpool, Leeds, Oxford, Manchester and Glasgow. The NCHP is accredited by the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education and is a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy, the European Association for Hypno-Psychotherapy, the European Association for Psychotherapy and the National Council for Hypnotherapy. The National College is also the Founding Training Faculty for the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists. I am the National College's 5th Principal since its founding.

Brief Biography
Shaun Brookhouse is an award winning hypno-psychotherapist and trainer (in both in the UK and US). He earned a Graduateship Diploma (First Degree Equivalent) in Counselling and Hypnotherapy from the City and Guilds of London Institute, a Masters Degree in Education Studies (Researching the development of training in Hypnotherapy 1971-1998) from Liverpool John Moores University, a CertEd (Teaching Credential) from Manchester University, in which the assessment was based in part on the course he designed in clinical hypnosis, and an Associate Diploma from the College of Teachers, for his thesis on the importance of teaching counselling skills to hypnotherapists. Shaun is a Certified Master Instructor with the National Guild of Hypnotists, the oldest and largest hypnotherapy society in the world. Shaun is also a Fellow of and a past Chairman of the National Council for Hypnotherapy , one of the UK's premier hypnotherapy societies. Additionally, he is an NLP Master Trainer and holder of the European Certificate in Psychotherapy and European Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis and is a Full Member of the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists

Something for Clients to Consider:
For many clients and potential clients, consulting a therapist is not a decision that is taken lightly. It is essential that your psychological and emotional health be treated with the utmost respect and competence. Even if you do not consult me, please ensure that your therapist is properly trained and accredited. Training in hypnosis for therapy ranges from short correspondence courses through courses lasting for 450 hours or so, to courses which are in excess of 1400 hours, university accredited and recognised for registration purposes in Europe as well as the UK. My credentials are of the latter type, as I have undertaken over 3500 hours of training and supervision since 1989. Additionally, ensure that if a therapist is utilising the title “doctor”, the degree has been issued by a legitimate university and in a subject that is related to therapy. This would include Medicine, Psychology, Social Science, Education, Social Work, Counselling and Psychotherapy. If you are in doubt, ask; an ethical therapist will be pleased to disclose their credentials.
