National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy
In 2007, Shaun became Principal of the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, probably the longest established school of this type in the UK (established 1977). The Diploma in Hypnosis and Psychotherapy DHP(NC) has been offered every year since the college's founding and is externally accredited by(UKCP, British Accrediting Council, European Association for Psychotherapy, and European Association of Hypno-Psychotherapy) runs in Liverpool, London, Oxford, and Glasgow. The 1st Annual International Hypno-Psychotherapy Conference, London
Shaun is a featured presenter at this event, hosted by the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy on the 20th-21st of June 2009 at the Park Crescent Conference Centre, London, W1. Australian Hypnotherapists' Association World Conference
Shaun will be doing the keynote address at the Australian Hypnotherapists's Association World Conference on the 12th of September 2009. December 2001: Shaun Brookhouse featured on the cover of the Journal of Hypnotism. This is the largest hypnosis publication in the world.
January 2002: Shaun Brookhouse has been appointed the Editor of the National Guild of Hypnotists Certified Instructors' Ezine
February 2002: Shaun Brookhouse has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the International Institute of Coaching.
May 2002: The Washington School of Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis has amalgamated its Diploma in Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis with the Certified Practitioner of NLP Course. Persons who complete the Diploma Training will receive two credentials: The Diploma in Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis and Certified Practitioner of NLP Status. The tuition for this combined programme is £1410 (VAT inclusive) with an additional £100 one off certification fee to pay.
May 2002: Shaun Brookhouse has been appointed to the Technical Working Group setting up Hypnotherapy National Occupational Standards
July 2002: Shaun Brookhouse became one of the first two reciepiants of the externally accredited Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) awarded jointly through the National Council for Hypnotherapy and the NCFE National Awarding Body
August 2002: At the 2002 Conference of the National Guild of Hypnotists, Shaun Brookhouse received the prestigious NGH President's Award for his work for the profession and the National Guild. Next to the Rexford L North Award, the President's Award is the most senior honour given by the National Guild of Hypnotists.The National Guild of Hypnotists has over 7000 members around the world.
September 2002: Shaun Brookhouse earned a Certificate in Education through Manchester University. Many of the assignments for this award were based around the Diploma in Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis which he designed.
October 2002: Shaun Brookhouse was made an "Ïnternational Member" of The New Zealand Society of Clinical & Applied Hypnotherapy
January 2003: The Washington School's internationally accredited diploma programme has converted into a modular format which means that students can start the course at any time of year rather than waiting until the beginning of the academic year each October. February 2003: Shaun Brookhouse was awarded Board Certified Fellowship of the National Guild of Hypnotists. This was one of the first fellowships to be presented by the Guild. The criteria was to be a Board Certified Hypnotherapist for not less than 3 years a member of the National Guild for not less than 4 years, to be in clinical practice for not less than 3 years, be published in one or more of the following: book, video, newspaper, magazine, or other media of the Board, must write a 5000 word thesis on a clinical hypnosis subject suitable for publication, and to have submitted a video conducting a clinical hypnosis session.
March 2003: Merrimack, NH, U.S.A.- Dr. Dwight Damon, president of the National Guild of Hypnotists announced in behalf of the Executive Board that Dr. Shaun Brookhouse, of Great Britain, had been appointed to the Advisory Board of this internationally active professional organization as of March 15, 2003. Dr. Brookhouse was nominated because of his international work regarding the study and practice of hypnotism and hypnotherapy. He will head a department in Great Britain which is being developed in behalf of the Guild’s many European members. The National Guild of Hypnotists, Inc. is a non-profit group which was founded fifty-two years ago in Boston, Mass, U.S.A. With 7000 members world-wide it is known as the world’s largest and oldest organization of its kind. From August 8-10 members will hold their annual convention and educational conference, which in fifteen years has become known as the world’s largest and friendliest hypnotism convention. This annual event is held in New Hampshire where NGH headquarters is located. Dr. Brookhouse, as a member of the adjunct faculty, conducts NGH continuing education workshops on Ericksonian hypnosis throughout the year and will also present at the convention. His educational column, “A British Perspective,” is a regular feature in the Journal of Hypnotism and the Hypno-Gram, two NGH professional publications
May 2003: Glendale, California Shaun Brookhouse was awarded the Pioneer Award from the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners for "his leadership and dedication to the hypnotherapy profession in the United Kingdom"
June 2003: Shaun Brookhouse in partnership with Fiona Biddle, have opened up a satellite practice in London. The Park Road Practice details can be found at www.hypno-nlp.net It should be noted that this is very much a part-time practice, Shaun's full-time practice will remain at Chorlton in Manchester.
August 2003: Nashua, New Hampshire, at the largest hypnosis convention in the world, Shaun Brookhouse received the Hypnosis Journalism Award in recognition for his activities as a hypnotic author.
October 2003: Nashua, New Hampshire: Shaun Brookhouse has been appointed International Affairs Officer of the National Guild of Hypnotists as well as to the Board Certification Board of Examiners of the National Guild of Hypnotists
November 2003: Shaun Brookhouse was awarded Licentiateship of the City and Guilds of London Institute in Training and Development
December 2003: Brookhouse Hypnotherapy has begun to expand into a national group of therapeutic practices. Brookhouse Hypnotherapy has its main office in Chorlton in Manchester (Since 1991) with additional practices in Loughborough and London. Further offices will be opened in 2004. These offices will be either staffed by Shaun Brookhouse or clinicians trained by or approved by Shaun Brookhouse. It should be noted that Shaun will continue to run his full time practice from Richmael House, 25 Edge Lane, Chorlton, Manchester M21 9JH.
February 2004: Shaun Brookhouse has been named a faculty member for the largest hypnosis convention in the world, the National Guild of Hypnotists Annual Convention. This is the 5th straight year he has been selected.
April 2004: Shaun Brookhouse has truly become an "Instructor of Instructors". Shaun has become the first person outside of the United States to be authorised to teach the National Guild of Hypnotist's Train the Trainer course.
July 2004: Shaun Brookhouse has earned Graduateship in Hypnotherapy and Counselling from the City and Guilds of London Institute. Graduateship is equivalent to a first degree from a recognised European University
August 2004: Shaun Brookhouse was given the Rexford L North Memorial Trophy from the National Guild of Hypnotists, their highest award. This was given for life time achievement in the field.
October 2004: Shaun Brookhouse was elected to Fellowship of the Institute for Learning, this body is affiliated with the Further Education National Training Organisation which is responsible for Further Education. Shaun was awarded this in recognition of his qualifications as a teacher of hypnotherapy practitioners

May 2005: The National Guild of Hypnotists, USA has awarded one of the first 3 Master Instructor Certifications to Shaun Brookhouse
June 2005: The National Council for Hypnotherapy UK has awarded The Hartland Memorial Award to Shaun Brookhouse for his services to the hypnotherapy profession worldwide
August 2005: The National Guild of Hypnotists honoured Shaun Brookhouse twice at their International Convention, first by awarding him the inaugural International Visionary Award for his innovative promotion of the profession as well as inducting him in to the Order of Braid, which was founded to honour those who over their life have made extraordinary contributions to the field of hypnotism.

December 2005: Shaun Brookhouse was featured in the Manchester Evening News for his smoking cessation treatment, the outcome of the article was very favourable indeed.
February 2006: Brookhouse Hypnotherapy Ltd has launched www.shaunbrookhouse.org to act as a web hub for all of Shaun's affiliated websites.
Feburary 2006: Shaun Brookhouse was selected to be a faculty member at the National Guild of Hypnotists International Hypnotism Convention for the 7th consecutive year, details above.
June 2006: The UK Academy of Therapeutic Arts and Sciences has amalgameted the Washington School of Clincial and Advanced Hypnosis. From July2006, all Diplomas awared in Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis will come from the UK Academy and no longer from the Washington School of Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis
August 2006: Shaun Brookhouse was awarded Diplomate Status from the National Guild of Hypnotists, thier highest level of membership. Addionally, he was awarded the Ormond McGill Chair for being the highest rated faculty member at the 2005 NGH International Hypnotism Conference.
November 2006: Shaun Brookhouse was appointed to the Advisory Board of the National Council for Hypnotherapy. Shaun served for a number of years on the NCH Executive as Director of Ethics, and then as Chair. The National Council for Hypnotherapy is the most important hypnotherapy body in the UK
January 2007: Shaun Brookhouse was interviewed by the Hypnotherapy Journal, the official journal of the National Council for Hypnotherapy
April 2007: From the UK Academy of Therapeutic Arts and Sciences 5 April 2007 For Immediate Release The UK Academy is proud to announce that our Principal Shaun Brookhouse has been elected a Fellow of the College of Teachers. The College of Teachers is the oldest professional college for educators in the world having received its Royal Charter in 1849 with a supplementary charter received in 1998. Shaun was already a holder of their post graduate Associateship Diploma for his dissertation The Importance of Counselling Skills in the Training of Hypnotherapists With distinctions like this and his Masters Degree in Education Studies from Liverpool John Moores University(Dissertation: Hypnotherapy Training in the UK: An investigation into the development of Clinical Hypnosis training post 1971) and his Certificate in Education (Post Compulsory/Adult) from the University of Manchester and his status as a Master Instructor for the National Guild of Hypnotists, we at the UK Academy believe that we have one of the finest educators of hypnotists/hypnotherapists in the world today.We offer our warmest congratulations to Shaun on this latest accomplishment.
June 2007: Shaun Brookhouse and Fiona Biddle have joined the Board of Directors of the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (established in 1977). Shaun will be taking on the duties of Principal of the College and Fiona will b the Managing Director of the College. This is a great development and both parties are delighted with moving the College into the future.
November 2007: Shaun Brookhouse has been awarded a European Certtificate in Psychotherapy from the European Association for Psychotherapy in Vienna. To date, only 107 other UK Psychotherapists have received this award. This compliments his European Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis from the European Association of Hypno-Psychotherapy (Netherlands) that he recieved in July 2007. He was the second person in the UK to receive this award. Both awards are testiment to Shaun's committment to providing the best possible service to his clients.
March 2008: Shaun Brookhouse has been elected to the post of Chair of the Hypno-Psychotherapy Section of UKCP. He was previously Chair of Section in 1999, and with this election he also has a seat on the Board of Trustees of UKCP. This is a great honour especially in this time of potential change in UK Psychotherapy Legislation.

October 2008: Shaun Brookhouse was named Chair-Elect of the European Association for Hypno-Psychotherapy at their recent meeting in Madrid.
